In 2004, the expectations on the Wombats Division 1 Men's team were high. A number of changes to the team list were made but all in all, the talent and determination were still there. The Wombats played consistently throughout the season, but seemed to struggle at times against competition leaders Wodonga. In the major semi final, the team played Wodonga without captain-coach Matt Smart and fullback Matthew Evans. The Wombats lost the match narrowly but took enormous confidence from the fact that they had the chances to win the game, minus a couple of their stars.

By the time the Grand Final came around, confidence amongst the team was at an all time high. If they could execute their game plan, victory would surely come their way. From the opening whistle, the Wombats controlled the game - much to the delight of their growing army of fans! In the end they ran out comfortable 6-2 winners to claim back-to-back Premierships.

Again, clubman Trevor Barber felt the occasion warranted another song to be written for the history books.
